School started up again in late August, so Nancy had more time alone with the baby. We did venture out to see some petroglyphs, and Rosie nearly caught a lizard. At least she saw one.
In August we went to Nevada to welcome our nephew home from his mission, and we also enjoyed the last bits of summer before classes started up again.
In July we visited Scotland and England with my parents. The main reason for the trip was to receive our PhDs from Cambridge, but we also wanted to show my parents around a bit and show off our baby to friends and family in Cambridge.
Rosie spent most of the summer practicing being cute and making sure we weren't too productive.
Xanthe and Nick visited us in May to meet Rosemary.
Rosie had a busy first few weeks of life. She had visits from family, visits to Zion National Park, her baby blessing, and lots of posing for the camera. It's hard work being a baby.
Our daughter Rosemary was born in April. Knowing that most babies come out looking like squished little aliens, we were relieved when Rosie was born beautiful and happy. For those of you raising little aliens, what can I say? Better luck next time.
Nancy's dad visited in early March, about a month before the baby was born. His father, Nancy's grandfather Alvin, passed away during his visit. We visited Zion's National Park that day.
We decided to go somewhere warm for Christmas, so we looked at the package holidays available and decided to go to Turkish Cyprus. It was sunny and pleasant the whole time we were there, and much warmer than England. We did see some cool things, but our main objective on this trip was to relax and eat well.
I took a bunch of pictures of Nancy while walking from our flat into town on October 15. My intent was to capture what Cambridge looks like to us on a daily basis, rather than just focusing on pictures of the colleges and the river. Going into town is a nice walk that takes about 30 minutes.
We went to Rome for a week in May 2005. Nancy and I both brought our cameras, but I left mine in the hotel all week (I thought of it as the backup camera). These are the highlights that Nancy picked out from her pictures.
Nancy and I visited Ireland in November 2004. Neither of us got around to taking pictures, but fortunately Jason and Susan took a bunch.
Nancy and I got married in the St. George temple on June 4, 2004. These are the pictures from the photographer; they are mainly posed groups shots of the families and us.
Alex took a bunch of pictures. His photos include a lot more candid shots and pictures of the kids.
Robert also took a number of pictures, mainly on the temple grounds.
Alex and Kent came to visit me and meet Nancy a month or so before the wedding. We visited Cambridge, Dover, and London before leaving Nancy behind for a trip to Paris and surrounding areas. Alex took a lot of great pictures.
These are a few pictures we took while we were engaged, including a trip to the Grand Canyon and posed pictures for our wedding invitations.
I went home for Thanksgiving in 2003 for the first time since high school. Among other things, we went rappelling with Jeremiah Ward.
Brandon and Kathryn (a girl he was dating at the time) came to visit in England in 2003. These are Brandon's pictures from the trip.
I went to Japan in August 2002 with Alex and Kent. We split our time between Tokyo and the south, staying at Alex's apartment in Tokyo and with Kent's relatives in Okayama and Kochi.
Besides my Japan trip, few pictures seem to have survived from 2002. I did go on the annual Harvard LDSSA retreat, which was in Maine that year (staying at Nikki Conti's house in Bar Harbor). I also grew a beard, and took a few pictures before shaving it off.
For spring break in 2001 I visited England with Jason, Susan, and Dave. These are all of Jason's pictures from the trip.
These are pictures that I took (or acquired) in 2001 that don't really belong anywhere else. During this year I lived at 26 Chauncy Street (in Harvard Square), dated Jocelyn Winter, and bought a digital camera. I probably did other things too, but the pictures are mainly centered around those things.
These are some older pictures from a camping trip my family took near Cedar City in June 2000. I had a free disposable camera and tried to get pictures of an many people as I could.
